El Nuevo Herald visited with BxB at Girl Power in Liberty City
The girls in the group got a chance to show their stuff to Miami Herald writer Sarah Moreno (that's her in the purple jacket). Artists Dinorah de Jesus Rodriguez and Michelle Weinberg facilitated the creation of digitally altered self-portraits and design in three dimensions using Sketchup software. The girls adapt their scanner portraits in Photoshop
Using a flatbed scanner to transfer their image to the computer, girls at Girl Power then got into the power of digital imaging, using Photoshop software.
The BxB building facade project
Imagine a city that reflects its residents' faces back at them. That's what we're up to in Brick x Brick workshops. 3D drafting is a creative virtual workspace where we can invent all kinds of buildings.

Girls in Liberty City experimented with self-portraits using our new MacBook Pro's Photo Booth program. Their faces will be incorporated into building facades using Google Sketchup.

New buildings on the virtual 3D drawing board
The drawings below were made by Alex, Osmani and Dariel at Little Havana Institute.
Building Facade project
In Brick by Brick, students at the four sites are literally becoming the facades of their original buildings.
Starting with self-portraits like the one of Nethaniah (from YWCA), they create new textures from their portraits for their buildings in Sketchup.
