Stop Motion animation by British artist Rachel Whiteread
Check out the site for artist Rachel Whiteread's installation called "Embankment". You can see her process in a stop motion video, just like our experiments on the tabletop in Brick x Brick.

Welcome to Miami Art Museum's Brick x Brick program!
Teen participants at four inner-city sites will explore and document their communities and Miami's changing downtown. Professional artists, designers and architects will lead them through projects using a variety of materials and art processes to express their own architectural and urban planning ideas. They will be inspired by the Herzog and de Meuron exhibition at the Miami Art Museum and discover their own place in the city's "big picture".
This blog will feature images and words posted by the young people at each site. Check back to see our progress as we begin our pilot year!

Meeting with students
Artist-in-residence Dinorah de Jesus Rodriguez discussing Utopia and Dystopia with Brick by Brick participants at Coconut Grove Cares, known as The Barnyard. Students made collages from home and design magazines based on their own personal visions of Utopia and Dystopia. We discovered that our students have many interests, from skateboarding to poetry.
