Our annual exhibition is coming up!

Thanks to the folks at the Historic Alfred I. Dupont Building on Flagler Street in downtown Miami, Brick by Brick will celebrate a year of hard work and new ideas with an exhibition on Thursday June 7.

Here is the artwork for our invitation, a collage of works by many BxB participants. The title is courtesy of the Tuesday afternoon group at Girl Power.

More details to come....

From Film to Video

The old and heavy 16mm Film Projector was a fresh item for the students at Mater Academy
last Monday. We saw the film projected a couple of times and made editing cuts.

Here some of the our stills from the film.

Handmade 16mm film at Girl Power

For most of the group at Girl Power, born into the digital age, seeing and touching actual film is a novel experience. But it brings useful lessons: how many frames does it take to make one second? How many frames must you draw a single object in order for it to be clearly visible to the human eye? What is subliminal messaging in film? The girls scratched on the emulsion side of vintage film strips and clear and black leader. These strips will be taped together to compose a collaborative film.
